




Our restoration of this remote 17th C. farmhouse and Barn / Byre conversion was carried out using sustainable materials and renewable technologies. 'Off-grid' upon completion, the project was shortlisted for the 2011 Northern Design Awards and features in the Lake District National Park's 'Great Design with Special Landscapes' publication.







The Lakeland Motor Museum's new home on the banks of the Leven was created via the conversion of a former dolly blue works complimented by dazzling new spaces. Our design following feasibility studies by SMC:DTR incorporates a biomass boiler, larch cladding, sheep's wool insulation and a mix of recycled / locally quarried stone and slate.




Our creative work at this South Lakes estate focussed on a new curved gable extension incorporating an internal cruck frame mezzanine coupled with replacement doors and windows complimented by new sandstone surrounds.



Current projects on the drawing board include a low carbon live:work unit in Windermere, a quirky house extension in the Kendal conservation area and a striking two storey annex to an existing barn in Hale.






Our proposals for this Grade II listed farmhouse involved the selective repair of existing lime render, oak partitions and timber windows beneath a replacement Westmorland green slate roof. Our designs for a compact two storey highly insulated timber framed extension alongside the restored farmhouse also created stunning contemporary spaces.



Our ongoing commitment to the fantastic work being carried out by the volunteers at the Stainmore Railway Company has included design work for the repair / reinstatement of a glazed gable and new folding shutter doors to the original engine shed along with an extension to the platform for Appleby bound trains.

Our striking proposal for a replacement timber framed porch of intriguing geometry in Kendal's conservation area incorporates a blue engineering brick plinth and lead roof with stainless steel gutter.


O'Neil Associates were part of the design team working with baca architects of London - www.baca.uk.com - on this striking competition entry for a new clubhouse for the Ullswater Yacht Club.





An almost complete re-build, high specification bespoke fit-out and timber framed extension heralded the transformation of this former farm worker's cottage adjacent to a Grade II listed building.


A bespoke new ash staircase and feature glazed passenger lift were carefully designed for insertion into an existing stairwell in this Grade II listed stately home.


This former cow byre in the Eden Valley has been extensively renovated and extended. Proposals included a glazed oak screen at the entrance, bespoke joinery and a lean-to veranda facing the garden.



Work nears completion on a contemporary bungalow extension in the Vale of Esthwaite. Robust locally sourced larch cladding sits beneath a delicate lead roof to create a striking new atelier for our artist client.

Our sensitive conversion of this former assembly room in the heart of the village of Morland was 'Highly Commended' in the conservation category of the 2009 Eden Design Awards.


Planning approval has been secured for this sparkling new addition to Porsche Centre Kendal on the edge of the town's conservation area.

The 'Hallan' incorporates a carefully designed link and secondary entrance between the original 18th C. farmhouse and an adjacent former farm worker's cottage.

Our completed graphic design projects include a new logo for the Lakeland Motor Museum and one to celebrate the centenary of the Keswick Museum and Art Gallery.

This contemporary extension was initially designed using 3D CAD modelling software and incorporates a feature glazed gable to provide views and light to our client's new dining area.

Design work was completed on behalf of Lancaster City Council for a series of Victorian style shop fronts and façade restoration to this terrace in Morecambe's conservation area.


A two storey extension in the local vernacular style was added to this 18th C. cottage in the heart of Lakeland incorporating traditional materials such as lime pointing, locally quarried slate, cast iron rainwater goods and timber sliding sash windows.
